Transportation Ideas

The movement of materials is done by “transportation”, the circulatory system of civilization. This circulation system ever is flowing, is maintaining itself, and is making better matching of its capabilities to the needs of that which it serves. Transportation systems can be thought of as bridges from places to other places.

The first step to space it a big one, since the force of gravity is much stronger nearer the ground (the inverse square law.)  Accessing Earth orbit in a very big way, efficient unconventional ways to get up into orbit around the Earth, could make an enormous difference in what space resources and applications become feasable in the near future.

Using a planetary loop transportation structure that is strengthened and shaped by kinetic energy stored circulating within it, creating contra-gravity centrifugal force while also distributing energy for lifting payload between ground and earth orbit.

Accessing Low Earth Orbit in a very big way, using modified conventional reaction engine propelled vehicle technology to safely and efficiently build a mile-diameter wheel-shaped space station in LEO

Using an anchored tether from the Earth's surface that is supported by earth's roation swinging a counterweight as the earth spins, providing a structure on which to climb from ground to space.

Using an anchored tether from a moon's surface through L-1 toward the Earth, supported by the counterweight of mass between L-1 and the eartside end of tether. A structure on which to climb from the lunar surface to space, and regenerative rail systems could balance mass rising with mass falling toward earth. Materials processing facilities at L-1 makes foamed metals cast into gliding shapes for gentle atmospheric entry and splashdown in the ocean for materials recovery.

Remember what moves the old San Francisco Cablecars? A ski lift? So ...using high speed pullbands circulating from residential blocks to intercity pathways, to move shell vehicles from garage to commerce sites and back; originally conceived of as an emergency commute system, that could then expand to a total ground commute system far more time and energy efficient for the commuter than is the car and roadway system now in use..

To move or not to move, that is the question.
